Theatre

What Benefits Do Students Get From Theatre Class?

There are a lot of benefits to a theatre education. It's a terrific medium that allows kids to be healthy, active and fully engaged. Theatre class provides great advantages that cannot be found in recreational sports. Students of our academy learn stage presence as well as how to express themselves through exploration and discovery. Children involved in theatre show an increase in self-confidence, public speaking abilities and trust. It's a positive outlet that will help your child to not only solve problems creatively but to think outside of the box.

Working in Theatre Builds Self-confidence

Children need a place where they can feel comfortable to be themselves and theatre is a great place for children to grow confidence. They learn to work with others and to be praised for their efforts on stage. They learn a better understanding of themselves as well as the people around them. Working in theatre can build a child's self-esteem which can improve success throughout school and family life. Self-esteem is a very important thing to instill in a child before they encroach on puberty.

Children Become Comfortable with Public Speaking

Public speaking can be a terrifying thing for anyone to go through never mind a child. But when a child recites lines and stands on a stage, public speaking starts to become something easy for them to get through. They become more confident, and because of that, the idea of standing before other people is less terrifying.

Theatre unlocks a Child's Creativity

Children need to be challenged and take risks in order to grow creatively and socially. Theatre allows children to step into their fears and overcome them. It isn't always easy for a child to get up on stage, by being part of a theatre program you will see your child progress right before your eyes.

Theatre classes provide a safe environment for children to practice their creativity while learning breathing practices and exercises that build character and confidence. Theatre is a great place for children to celebrate their own successes through their performances and productions.

In our Theatre classes students learn how to portray a character, breathe properly, project and build stage presence among other things. Our academy offers optional performance opportunities for our Theatre students during the year; from small showcases to big productions.

In our Musical Theatre program students learn singing, acting and dancing skills. We start Musical Theatre classes at the age of 6.

Our Drama classes give students the opportunity to build character and confidence and to express themselves through discovery and exploration.
